Digital tools for traveling nurses

Clara health care app:
From back of the napkin to Series A funding

UX / User Research / Product Design / Prototyping

Healthcare is a notoriously difficult industry to innovate. Our lean team identified a high-impact opportunity by partnering with forward-thinking leaders to drive top-down change. When chronic wounds fail to heal, the entire care continuum suffers: patients lose mobility, insurers face unpredictable costs, and clinicians struggle with care management. Specialized traveling nurses are the frontline defense, but they’re burdened by complex logistics and redundant reporting, too much of their time is consumed by end-of-shift paperwork rather than direct patient care.

Our solution equips traveling nurses with a tailored iPad interface that surfaces critical clinical data on demand and automates documentation through touch-controlled charting. Early demos and beta testing demonstrated massive efficiency gains for field nurses alongside dramatic improvements in department-level compliance.

To execute this vision, our three-person team moved rapidly to prototype, pitch, and secure strategic partners. We designed an enterprise-grade technology stack leveraging Pivotal Labs, EMC, and Synapse Medical to deliver a specialized platform unmatched in the market. We partnered with European hospital group Bosonix, secured half of our $1.7M Series A goal, and engaged key stakeholders like Bromley Health Care, Synapse MedTech, Sharp Healthcare, and the California VA. With agreements spanning four major health networks, our platform targets an estimated $27 billion in preventable healthcare spending.

It all started with an animated conversation and a stack of paper and pens.
